Fushifaru is a small island in the Maldives, but its small size doesn’t make it less attractive. This little corner of paradise was one of our favourite islands on our trip to the Maldives. It lies to the west of the Lhaviyani Atoll, opening up as a sandbank between two channels that connect the lagoon directly to the sea.
To get to this island, you have to hire a seaplane service, which takes around 35 minutes. Once there, you will understand that it was well worth the trip. You will find yourself immersed in a natural setting with all the necessary services, where you can enjoy absolute peace while enjoying a countless number of comforts. If you want to discover all there is to do on this island, read on for our tips on what to do on Fushifaru Island Maldives.
Water sports in Fushifaru Maldives
The first water activity we did was snorkelling in Fushifaru Kandu, a stunning channel dive that is part of one of the most important marine protected areas in the Maldives. You will be fascinated by some of the most impressive marine species in the world, such as manta rays, sharks and barracudas.
Another activity not to be missed on your trip to Fushifaru Maldives is snorkelling with turtles. We were lucky enough to see these creatures close up and it’s an indescribable experience. If you prefer to be on the surface, you can go kayaking through the bluest, clearest waters in the world. It doesn’t get any better than this!
Restaurants in Fushifaru Maldives
Due to its small size, there are only two restaurants on Fushifaru Island, but both are of outstanding quality and you won’t be short of choice. We had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful Korakali Restaurant.
As well as having an excellent location with stunning sea views, this place is decorated in true Maldivian style. Inside you can enjoy a good breakfast, lunch or dinner with dishes and flavours from all over the world, as well as more island-inspired recipes. It also has a beautiful terrace where you can admire the surrounding natural scenery. You will be delighted with the quality of the restaurant and all its flavours.
On the other hand, you can go to the Raakani Grill Restaurant. There you will be served a wide variety of dishes with traditional Asian recipes, mainly based on fresh seafood caught in the area.
To end the day on a high note, we recommend a visit to the Fanihandi bar, where they don’t serve food but you can try some amazing cocktails overlooking the ocean. Don’t hesitate to visit this place in the evening for an amazing sunset.
Fushifaru Maldives Resort
The main hotel on this island is Fushifaru Maldives Resort. This stunning hotel is a boutique resort full of 5-star villas that will make your accommodation a movie-like experience. You can choose from a variety of different types of houses, some overlooking the sea and some on the shore.
You’ll enjoy accommodation with Maldivian-style architecture and décor, with rooms and facilities offering every luxury and comfort, and a choice of a villa with a pool. Thanks to its unbeatable location, we had perfect access to the beach. This establishment also has a large sports court and even a spa where you can relax and be pampered. And if that wasn’t enough, you can use the resort’s WiFi throughout the island. Once you get to know the hotel, you’ll never want to leave.
Activities in Fushifaru Maldives
During our trip in Fushifaru Maldives, we had the opportunity to enjoy several activities that made our stay even more fun. Here are our favourites to add to your list of things to do in Fushifaru Maldives.
On the first day we attended a very interesting Maldivian cooking class, during which, as the name suggests, we enjoyed a cooking class where we learned about some of the most typical dishes and recipes of the Maldives. To end the day, we dined on the beach watching one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. This is not to be missed.
The second day started with a wonderful floating breakfast by the pool of our villa, consisting of a myriad of tropical fruits, juices and other delicacies – you won’t find a better way to start the day! After you’ve enjoyed your breakfast, we recommend you try some water sports. When you’re done, feel free to take a leisurely stroll along the stunning, long sandy spit of Fushifaru Maldives.
