3. Modernist cemetery

In Lloret de Mar you can visit a Modernist cemetery designed by Joaquim Artau i Fàbregas. This work has positioned itself as a benchmark of Catalan modernism. Tosa de Mar is a pretty seaside village on the Costa Brava just 20 minutes by car, or 30 by bus from Lloret de Mar. 2. Girona, the medieval provincial capital

In the heart of Catalonia and only 45 minutes away by car lies Girona, provincial capital and a city of rich history and beautiful architecture that captivates visitors. Its old town with cobbled streets and colorful houses will transport you back to medieval times. In the city you cannot miss the Cathedral of Girona and the walls that surround the city and on which you can walk. Things to do in 1 day in Lloret de Mar?

You can visit Lloret de Mar in one day, however, tourists usually prefer to spend at least a week to enjoy its beaches, local gastronomy and the surrounding villages.

If you only have one day we recommend visiting the Castle of Sant Joan, the modernist cemetery, the Museum of the Sea and especially the Gardens of Santa Clotilde, with stunning views that will surprise you. And if you have time to spare we encourage you to relax on the main beach or in one of the beautiful coves in the area.

Where and what to eat in Lloret de Mar?

One of the main tourist attractions of the Costa Brava is its Mediterranean gastronomy, which is famous for the high quality products, whether from the farm or from the sea. Lloret de Mar is no exception, so we recommend you to write down our suggestions and feast on them. These are our favorite restaurants:

  • Mas Romeu Restaurant: if you are a gastronomy lover you can’t miss this Michelin-starred restaurant. The meal may cost more than 60€, but it’s worth it for the quality of their dishes and its unique environment. You’ll love the dining room located on a terrace surrounded by a flower garden.
  • Café Tyrol: this bar located in the center of Lloret de Mar is a perfect place to eat tapas for less than 15€. It tends to be very busy, so we recommend booking in advance.
  • La Campana: is a farmhouse in the center with roast chicken as the star dish. The average price is 15€ and the chicken is served with potatoes and salad.

Where to stay in Lloret de Mar?

Lloret de Mar is a really touristic destination that every summer receives hundreds of tourists looking for sun and beaches. That means that the hotel offer is very wide and varied, but it is also an expensive destination and if you want to find a good accommodation option we recommend to book in advance. In the center and in front of the main beach you will find many options and you can enjoy the nightlife of the area. But if you are looking for peace and quiet, you can stay in nearby coves or inland. Here are a few suggestions for accommodation:

  • Hostal Ribas: is a much cheaper option where you can spend the night for less than 50€. It is only 100 meters from the beach and it is a really comfortable and clean place. It has a 24/7 reception and a restaurant.

How to get to Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is quite well connected by public transport with nearby towns, especially during the summer. However, if you are going to move around the area we recommend renting a car. These are all the options available to get there.

  1. Airplane: the nearest airport is Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO), which is about 30 kilometers away. From the airport, you can take a cab, bus or rent a car to get to Lloret de Mar.
  2. Train: Lloret de Mar does not have its own train station, but you can go to Blanes station, which is about 7 kilometers away, and from there take a cab, a bus or even walk to Lloret de Mar.
  3. Bus: There are bus services connecting Lloret de Mar with nearby cities such as Barcelona and Girona. The price ranges between 2€ and 15€.
  4. Car: Lloret de Mar is well connected by road and has parking available in the city. It takes 1 hour to get there from Barcelona and 36 minutes from Girona.

What should I keep in mind before traveling to Lloret de Mar?

  • The best time to travel to Lloret de Mar is in May, June and September, when the weather is good and there are fewer tourists.
