Located within the Natural Park of Ses Salines de Eivissa and Formentera, this beach is protected and occupies a large part of the peninsula of es Trucadors, at the northern end of the island of Formentera. Its more than 450 metres long and separated in two by a small rocky area located in the middle. Its name refers to several islets that lie off the coast and are known by the following names: Illa de Tramuntana, Illa des Forn, Escull des Pou, Illa Redona and Escull d’en Palla. Their presence makes the landscape of this beach even more unique.

This paradisiacal beach stands out for its white sand and calm, shallow waters that tinge the landscape with turquoise tones. In addition, as it is a natural park, the surroundings are well cared for with dune protection areas, access walkways and specific areas where you can park to avoid causing a negative impact on the terrain.

  • To access the natural park by car or motorbike, you must pay a small fee at the entrance. For cars the cost is from €4 to €6, and for motorbikes from €2 to €4. However, access on foot or by bicycle is free of charge.

Most of the rental companies have a boat that will take you from the port to the the beach, where it anchors and lets you discover Espalmador freely. It is practically uninhabited and full of areas to discover.

Cavall d’en Borràs

This is the first beach you will come across when you enter the Natural Park of Salinas de Eivissa and Formentera. This beach is less popular than its neighbour but it also retains a wild beauty with crystal clear waters and fine white sand.

Moreover, its northwesten location with views of the islets of es Vedrà and es Vedranell make it the perfect place to enjoy the sunset from the shore. It also has a leafy forest of junipers that creates shelter and a protected dune network, which create a wild paradisiacal landscape.

How to get to Ses Illetes Formentera?

You can reach Ses Illetes on foot, by bicycle, bus, car or motorbike.

  • Bicycle: bikes can be hired at the port, from where there is a bicycle lane that runs through the Ses Salines Natural Park. There is no entrance fee if you come y bike and access is not limited even if the capacity is full.
  • Bus: A bus also leaves every half an hour from La Savina to Ses Illetes and also returns every half hour. The journey is just a few minutes and a return ticket costs €8

To get there by road, you have to follow the road that borders the Estany Pudent lake from La Savina.

  • Motorbike: To reach the beach by motorbike, there are 1,132 motorbike parking spaces at Ses Illetes. Motorbike access to the beach costs between €2 and €4, depending on the season.
  • Car: As for the car, the car park has just 384 parking spaces and in high season they fill up quickly. It costs between €4 and €6, depending on the season.

  • Es Molí de Sal is a restaurant located in 200 year old building. Located on a rock, this restaurant serves Spanish food, with typical Mediterranean recipes from the island. In addition, they have great quality products such as the fresh fish of the day. The average price is 50€.
  • Juan and Andrea. Located right on Ses Illetes beach, Juan y Andrea is a Mediterranean restaurant famous for its fish and seafood, as well as one of the most classic restaurants on the island. The restaurant has a price range of around 60€.
  • Although located a little further away from the rest, Quimera Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on local produce in an idyllic setting. With a Michelin star for the Pitiusas and two SOLs from the Repsol Guide in 2020 and 2021, this restaurant serves top quality dishes at a price of 35€ – 70€.
