It is a small and modest city that receives thousands of tourists every year. Do you want to know why? Well, it is home to the largest LEGO amusement park in the world, a brand that emerged in the same city and around which has created a story to tell. As a result, the city has been transformed and today there are many beautiful places to visit.

Let’s get started!

What are the best places to visit in Billund?

1. Legoland in Denmark

LEGOLAND is the most visited tourist attraction in all of Denmark, even ahead of Copenhagen. It is the first theme park of LEGO, the famous Danish toy brand. Today there are more of them spread around the world, but this was the original. The park is divided into 9 zones with different sets and attractions, but the most famous is the Miniland, where we will find sets of famous towns and destinations in Denmark built with LEGO pieces.

Most tourists usually buy a couple of day packages that include the hotel, but you can also buy a one-day pass for DKK 329 or a two-day pass for DKK 478. Regarding transportation you don’t have to worry, as the complex is right in the center of Billund, just a 20-minute walk from the old town. The park is open from 10:00h to 18:00h every day of the week, and some days in summer and weekends until 20:00h.

2. Skulpturpark

This is a nice trail in the center of Billund where you can see up to 18 sculptures of some famous Danish artists. The trail is 1.3 km long and is a quick walk, however, you will most likely stop to admire and take pictures of each sculpture for a while. Many of them are also interactive, which means children will be able to play with them, climb on them and take fun photos.

The path runs parallel to a lake where there are also benches and wooden tables, ideal for having a picnic and spending the afternoon quietly while the kids have fun. It is a park open to the public, so the entrance is free and open 24 hours a day.

3. Bindeballe Museum Kobmandsgard

The Bindeballe Kobmandsgardes Museum is a beautiful store dating back to the 19th century that has maintained its original decor and charm over the years to become one of the most incredible tourist attractions in the city. Its sweets in glass jars, wooden shelves and iron cash register machine will transport you back centuries, and with the help of the tour guides you will discover how life was at the time, and more importantly, how the food was consumed.

Admission is 20 DKK for adults and free for children. The museum store is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and if you have the opportunity, we recommend hiring a guide to reveal all the secrets hidden in the store to you.

4. Teddy Bear Art Museum

Among all the museums found in the city, the most curious is probably the Teddy Bear Art Museum, which houses a collection of more than 1200 teddy bears from different eras. This collection is kept in the former home of a LEGO manager, which was rebuilt in a modern style and with lots of light. The museum also offers workshops from time to time to make your own teddy bear. It’s the perfect plan to do with kids.

We recommend you visit the museum’s website to sign up in advance for the workshops, as there are limited places. This way you will also see if there are any special events or exhibitions. General admission costs 100 DKK and is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
