Things to see in Javea Spain

Javea Old Town

Formerly protected by a wall, the old town of Javea is made up of numerous small streets with a characteristic medieval style. Also, it is one of the main places to visit on your trip to Javea Spain.

Along a pleasant stroll, you will discover different places of great historical importance in the town. For example, the Plaza de la Iglesia, where you can see the beautiful Church of San Bartolomé. Not far from there you will find the town hall and also the Jávea food market. We recommend visiting during the summer months, when the streets come to lifeduring the famous Bonfires of San Juan. Don’t miss out!

Arenal Beach

The Arenal Beach, located in the middle of the bay of Jávea. It is one of the busiest places in the town. Famous for its fine sand and impeccable waters, this beach is the ideal place to relax on your trip to Jávea Spain.

On its long promenade, you’ll find plenty of local shops and restaurants where you can stop for a drink overlooking the sea. It is also the ideal place if you want to experience Jávea’s nightlife. Due to a large number of pubs, you can enjoy music or have a drink.

Port of Javea Spain

The Port of Javea is without a doubt one of the favourite places in the town, among travellers and locals alike. And it is certainly not surprising, considering all that this place has to offer.

It is the ideal place to stroll around after a long day of sightseeing. Also, you can wander all the way along it while admiring the number of boats on the water. When you feel like stopping for lunch or dinner, you can choose from hundreds of bars or restaurants with some of the best Mediterranean dishes.

Duanes de la Mar neighbourhood

If you’re looking for lively areas, the Duanes de la Mar neighbourhood will become one of your favourite places in Jávea. Located around the port, it will allow you to enjoy a lot of activities.

Besides having some iconic monuments such as the Church of Nuestra Señora del Loreto or the famous Casa del Cable, you can also find a wide variety of places to sit and have a drink overlooking the sea. You will undoubtedly be enchanted by the seafaring character of this neighbourhood and the warmth of its people.

Cova Tallada

The Cova Tallada is probably the most special place to see in Jávea and certainly one of the most visited by travellers. This natural spot is a cave carved out of the rock connected to the sea.

Located in the middle of the Cabo de San Antonio nature reserve, this cave provides an incomparable setting. You can walk around the quarry, discovering the beautiful shapes that were produced in the past by the extraction of the stone. We recommend you visit this site in the low season to enjoy a unique experience complete of tranquillity.

Llop Marí Cave

The Llop Marí Cave is a small cave that is only accessible by kayak or swimming. This is an advantage as it is not usually crowded, unlike its companion, the Cova Tallada.

In order to swim in, you will first have to walk down some 240 steps that will take you to a rock platform. Once there, you can dive into the water and swim for about 50 metres until you reach the cave. You’ll be amazed by the seabed and all the aquatic life you’ll find, as well as being in an unbeatable natural setting. Cape Nao

Among all its numerous capes, Cabo de la Nao is definitely one of the essential visits on your trip to Jávea. Being the most easterly point of the Valencian Community, it has an unparalleled nature reserve.

The main highlight of this site is its lighthouse, located more than 120 metres above sea level. Not only can you enjoy a pleasant walk on the heights, but you can also discover hidden coves where you can take a dip, look out over picture-perfect cliffs and, of course, enjoy breathtaking views. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Cape San Antonio Lighthouse

Located between the municipalities of Jávea and Dénia, Cabo de San Antonio is one of the most iconic places to visit if you travel to the city. It is a natural area covering approximately 110 hectares.

Blessed with incredible cliffs that rise more than 150 metres above sea level, this area has some important natural reserves. Once you get to the top, do not hesitate to go to the viewpoint, which is a little before reaching the lighthouse. There you can enjoy incredible views of the entire bay of Jávea. You won’t regret it.

Water activities in Javea Spain

Being in a stunning location by the sea, Javea is a town full of endless activities, especially for water lovers.

Along Arenal Beach, you will find numerous stands where you can book your water activities. You can choose between an adventure in the depths with snorkelling equipment, a ride on the surface on a paddle surfboard or, if you want a bit more adrenaline, you can rent a jet ski and drive at more than 50 km/hour over the sea. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Hike along the Viewpoint Route

Made up of no less than 15 viewpoints, this famous route runs from the north to the south of the coast. Starting at the Mirador dels Molins and ending at the Mirador de la Granadella.

Along this impressive route, you will pass numerous natural balconies where you will be stunned by the incredible scenery. As it is difficult to visit all 15, we recommend that you do part of the route by car and part on foot, finishing your route in one of the coves, so you can go for a swim after the intense journey. You’ll love it!

Which coves to visit in Javea Spain?

Granadella Cove

Located just a 10-kilometre drive from Jávea is Cala Granadella. It is one of our favourite beaches not only in Jávea but in the whole country. What mainly characterises this place is its incredible combination of mountain and sea.

As if that wasn’t enough, in this cove you can enjoy incredible crystal clear waters and fine white sand. In addition, on the beach, you’ll find different stands where you can book a water activity such as snorkelling or kayaking. A great way to spend a hot morning on the water!

Sardinera Cove

Located between Cala Blanca and Cala Barraca is Cala Sardinera, an incredible beach that is quite small with crystal clear waters. On the plus side, it is difficult to access making it less crowded, so it is perfect to avoid the masses.

To get there, you first have to walk for a few minutes along a dirt road. But, once you get there you will understand that it was completely worth it. As it is a completely natural beach, you can enjoy untouched, crystal-clear waters. This cove is the perfect place to spend a sunny morning with the family.

Portichol Cove

Cala del Portichol is one of the most famous and picturesque beaches in Jávea. You probably know it for its famous fishermen’s cottages, with that characteristic mixture of blue and white that you have seen in thousands of photos on the internet.

You can get to it from the Cruz del Portichol viewpoint, a small square where you can admire the beautiful Portichol Island. Going with the kids can be a real adventure, and you can swim, kayak or even boat there. They’ll love it!

There is certainly a lot to see in Jávea, a place suitable for both adults and children. You can embark on a whole host of activities together and discover some of the most impressive spots on this gem of a coastline.

Montgo Natural Park

This impressive natural park, with a surface area of more than 2,117 hectares, is located between Dénia and Jávea. As well as having a wide variety of flora and fauna, it is the perfect place for long excursions with the little ones.

With an imposing height of 753 metres, the Montgó mountain is one of the most characteristic and famous features of the area. You can follow a route full of incredible natural surroundings. Here, you can enjoy spectacular views of the sea as you reach the top. It will be an adventure for the whole family.

Where to stay in Javea?

Depending on the type of accommodation you want, in Jávea you can choose the accommodation that best suits your interests.

Cheap accommodation in Javea

If you are looking for cheap accommodation, you can go for places like Youth Hostel Jávea, where you can get a shared room for less than 20€/night, or Villa Naranjos, where you can have a room for two people for 40€/night. Both are located in the centre of Jávea.

Medium-high price accommodation in Javea

If you’re looking for mid- to high-priced accommodation, you can opt for places like the well-located Hotel Triskel, with rooms for two people for around €100/night. On the other hand, you can opt for some amazing flats at The Beach House, located right on the seafront and with a modern style. Prices are around €100-200/night.

Where to eat in Javea?

In Javea you can enjoy some of the best restaurants on the coast with incredible Mediterranean cuisine.

– At Noray Restaurant you can enjoy incredible menus with sea views, all at a very affordable price. The midday menu is around 19€.

– If you want to enjoy Mediterranean food, at the Posidonia Restaurant you can try spectacular paellas and fideuás right in front of the beach.

– At Vida Fina you can try some delicious and varied tapas and enjoy a meal that is a little different from the Mediterranean.
