Features of Cala Saona Formentera
Cala Saona is the only sandy beach tucked between cliffs in the southwestern part of the island. It is sheltered and has many typical fishermen’s huts (llauts) that give this particular corner of Formentera a special charm. This cove is 140 metres long and is striking for its sandy seabed and turquoise waters. Cala Saona has the typical dunes of Balearic beaches and is surrounded by a beautiful pine grove, which gives it a wild character. The whole coast is full of cliffs, except Cala Saona, which is hidden in a small bay between Punta Rasa in the south and Caló d’en Trull in the north. There is a wide variety of activities to enjoy, such as paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling. What to see near Cala Saona?
Caló d’en Trull
Located very close to Cala Saona is Caló d’en Trull. It is a beautiful area with old huts that also has a sandy seabed and reddish cliffs, contrasting with the spectacular turquoise water. Caló d’en Trull is a small, 40 metre long nudist beach that allows you to enjoy a more intimate and secluded atmosphere in Formentera.
- The nearest road to reach this beach by car is the PM-820-1. Caló d’en Trull does not yet have a car park, so you will have to leave your car wherever you can in the vicinity of the beach.
Caló de s’Oli
This is a rocky area in the shape of a crescent facing the north of Formentera. The cove has views of the island of Ibiza and is surrounded by dunes, vegetation and stones that intermingle with the sand, creating a wild and authentic environment. Visiting this cove is, without a doubt, a very good option if you are looking to spend a whole day at the beach and want to get away from the crowds.

How to get to Cala Saona Formentera?
There are several ways to get to Cala Saona. On the one hand, you can reach the beach by bicycle, following the paths that go southwards, through the most rural part of the island. You can also get there by car along the road towards Cap de Barbaria, where you will find a signposted turn-off halfway along the road that heads west. At the end of the asphalt road there is a car park where you can leave your vehicle and reach the beach easily on foot.

- La PezQueria Fish Bar & Restaurant is a restaurant with a very original menu based on seafood and with a price range of 12 € – 35 €. From Spanish and international food to street food, this restaurant is a different way to enjoy local produce.
- Restaurant Casbah Formentera is a very good quality Mediterranean restaurant. Surrounded by greenery, this restaurant serves Spanish cuisine with innovative twists, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. The price range is from 38 € – 77 €.
- S’Abeurada de Can Simonet. Located in Sant Francesc, this is a restaurant serving high quality Spanish cuisine at a very affordable price. With a price range of 10 € – 30 €, this restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean dishes with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

If you drive to Cala Saona you will find a large free car park next to the Hotel Cala Saona. The car park is very large, around 200 spaces, but in high season it is always best to arrive early.
