Holafly eSIM card features and evaluation

1. Holafly review: eSIM speed and data limit

At Passporter we love using Holafly’s eSIM cards on our trips for many reasons, but the main one is that most of their plans have unlimited data and it won’t leave you stranded in the middle of your trip without internet.

It is one of the few brands on the market that offer this option, and for the countries where they do not offer unlimited data (which are very few) they usually have more gigabytes than other brands. Here is a table with the data usage of the main social networks and video platforms to help you estimate your consumption.

PlataformGB consumption per hour
Instagram0,12GB – 0,18 GB
Facebook0,12GB – 0,18 GB
Twitter0,06 GB
Tiktok0,18 GB – 0,8 GB
Netflix0,3GB – 7GB
Youtube0,14GB – 1,7 GB
Amazon Prime0,8GB – 6GB

2. Duration of Holafly plans

One of our favorite aspects of Holafly’s eSIMs is the flexibility they offer in their data plans in terms of duration, which can be 5, 10, 15, 15, 20, 30, 60 and 90 days. Holafly’s eSIMs are perfect for all types of travel: short getaways, work or study trips abroad. With Holafly eSIMs you won’t have too many or too few days.

3. Holafly review: eSIM pricing

Holafly is one of the most expensive brands on the market, however, after having tested many brands of eSIM cards, we consider that it is worth paying a little more and travel relaxed and with no worries about limiting your consumption or recharging the eSIM if you run out of data. if you run out of data. Although there are other brands (such as Airalo) that may seem cheaper, remember that when you run out of data you will have to pay again if you want to continue using the internet.

4. Holafly review: customer support

Holafly’s technical support is the best in the industry as they respond in less than a minute at any time of the day and in several languages: English, German, French, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. If you have any questions or problems during the purchase and installation process, they will solve them quickly through their chat or Whatsapp, which opens automatically when you buy the eSIMs.

5. Possibility of data sharing

Currently Holafly eSIM cards only allow data sharing with other devices in plans with limited data. Plans with unlimited data do not offer this possibility.

6. Holafly review: their App

Holafly has an App that allows you to monitor the remaining days of your contract and consult the code for manual installation of the eSIM as an alternative to the QR code. This means that it is not necessary to make the purchase using a PC to scan the QR code.

In the app you will also be able to contact the customer service department and solve doubts in the frequently asked questions section.

7. Holafly eSIM purchase and installation process

Buying a Holafly eSIM card is really simple. The process of purchasing and installing eSIM cards is usually very simple regardless of the brand, however, you’ll see that with Holafly cards it’s even easier. Their product is very standardized and their website is very intuitive. Plus, at all times you’ll be able to find the information you need at every step of the process.

These are the steps you have to follow. Go to their website and under the “destinations” tab you can choose the country or continent where you will be traveling. Then, you will be able to see different options based on the duration of the trip. Don’t worry about the gigabytes, most destinations have unlimited data so you only need to select the duration of the contract. Add the data plan to the cart and you can complete the purchase and pay securely with credit card, debit card, Paypal, Google Pay or Apple Pay.

Before buying the eSIM we recommend that you check if it is compatible with your mobile. Holafly’s eSIM cards are compatible with the vast majority of latest generation smartphones, but just in case check on their website.

Just like the purchase, the installation of the eSIM card is also quick and easy. Once you have made the payment and the purchase has been confirmed you will receive an email with a QR code and the instructions to finish the installation. These are the steps you have to follow:

  • Before anything else, make sure you have the internet connection. It is required to perform the installation.
  • Next, go to the networks section in settings and look for “add mobile plan”. There you can scan the QR code.
  • The download will begin. Once finished, choose the network of your eSIM as the main one.
  • Activate data and you will be able to browse the internet.

In the case of Holafly, the installation and eSIM activation process are the same. From the moment you scan the QR code, the contract time of your plan will start counting. That is why it is recommended to install it just before starting the trip in a place with a good internet connection.

But as we’ve already seen it’s really simple and won’t take much time.

Excellent service from Wayre!!! I had previously used HolaFly’s service and everything was perfect. Now with the change to eSim I can’t use it due to my mobile phone, but I have made the purchase for a family member who is leaving soon for the USA.

Excellent service, very secure transaction and very very quick to help me with my questions. Highly recommended! Wayra was the one who assisted me and she is great, if you are assisted by her, consider yourselves lucky!

The truth is that my experience was very good, at the beginning it was a little difficult to get the connection but everything was solved by a Holafly whatsapp operator…I would repeat without doubt…in my case I took the 10 day card for New York and it was perfect.

After testing eSIM cards from several brands, we have come to the conclusion that Holafly is one of the best options for all the benefits they offer. The purchase and installation process is simple, and at all times you feel safe and accompanied during the process. It’s definitely a trustworthy brand.

At Passporter we also consider eSIM cards with unlimited data to be more practical when traveling, so we always recommend Holafly’s eSIM cards with unlimited data. It is one of the most expensive brands on the market.
Advantages and disadvantages of Nomad eSIM cards

Nomad is a company dedicated to the sale of eSIM cards. It is also a marketplace like SimOptions, but their website and App are better developed and it is a bit easier to compare the eSIM cards. One of the advantages of the brand is that it has an App where customers can easily and quickly sign up for data plans.

The brand offers data plans in more than 100 countries and also by continents so that we can make use of our internet connection even if we are moving between different countries.

The vast majority of Nomad’s eSIM plans have a duration of 7 or 30 days, which is not very flexible and you will most likely have days left over or they won’t be enough. Also, their plans have a data limit ranging from 1 GB to 20 GB, and they do not offer plans with unlimited data. The price spectrum is wide and ranges from 5€ to 125€.

Advantages and disadvantages of SimOptions’ eSIM cards

The SimOptions online store is a marketplace where you will find a wide offer of packages for eSIM cards in more than 200 countries from different local companies. This means that the product is not standardized and the features of each plan can vary a lot depending on the brand, which makes the choice process difficult. In our Holafly review we are focusing on features such as data sharing, technical support and price.

Holafly Review
Data plan for Sim Options eSIM

Although their website is not as intuitive as Holafly’s or Airalo’s, the purchase process is still very straightforward. Once you’ve chosen your preferred data plan, you can finalize the purchase with these payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, AMEX and Discover.

One issue with this brand is that its data plans are not very flexible. Although for each destination there are several options, the truth is that they tend to give little flexibility in terms of contract duration and gigabytes. In addition, data plans are more expensive compared to the brands mentioned above. But the worst thing is that SimOptions cannot ensure a quality customer service because it depends on each of the brands they work with.

Airalo along with Holafly is one of the world’s best-known brands for buying an international travel eSIM. What’s our favorite eSIM card for travelling?

If there’s one thing we’re sure of at Passporter, it’s that eSIM cards are the best option for internet abroad. That’s why we’ve tested both the eSIM cards from Holafly and other brands such as Airalo, Sim Options, Truphone or Nomad on our trips and we have come to several conclusions that you can read in our Holafly review.

At first glance it seems that all eSIM cards are the same, however, when you do a little digging you realize that there are many aspects to consider that vary from brand to brand. We are talking, for example, about the gigabyte limit, one of the aspects that we consider the most important based on our experience. When we are traveling the last thing we want is to have to worry about running out of internet or controlling data consumption, that’s why we always recommend the unlimited data plans and Holafly is one of the providers where you can find eSIM with no data limit.

Other aspects to consider are contract duration, price and technical support. Data plans are usually not very flexible and only let you choose between 7 or 30 days, however, with Holafly you will be able to choose between 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 or 60 days. In addition, they have 24h customer support in English and other languages, while the rest of the brands only offer this service in English.

In short, Holafly’s eSIM cards with unlimited data are the best option to have internet abroad and travel peacefully and without worries.
