What are the best places to see and things to do in Taghazout, Morocco?
1. Taghazout Beach
The beach area of Taghazout is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the city. The water is clean and as it is a large and wide beach, there is plenty of space for walking, sports and sunbathing. It is one of the most popular places for locals, tourists and surfers from all over the world. On the beach you can find several surf schools where you can rent equipment and get started in this sport with the help of professionals. The waves are not very big, so you can learn in a safe environment.
In the area around the beach there are several establishments where you can have a drink or a bite to eat. There you can try the best fish in town. We also recommend you to come at sunset to see the most incredible sunset on the coast.
2. Other beaches to see in Taghazout
Very close to Taghazout you will find many other beaches where you can surf and sunbathe. Here is a selection of some of the best ones.
- Killer Point: one of the best surfing spots in Morocco. It is difficult to access and is full of rocks, but it has some incredible natural pools to combine surfing and relaxation.
- Ameznaz: a fishing village 14km away, the beach is protected, and if you feel like hiking you can’t miss it, as the mountains of Cape Rhir are beautiful.
- Tiger Beaches: you will need a car to get there, it is made up of rocky coves and its difficult access is compensated by the views of Cape Rhir.
- Plage Imourane: it is a place to go if you like water sports, besides being a long and dense beach, it has several restaurants where you can eat and rest. Both professional surfers and amateurs usually go there.
- Imsouane: this beach is easy to access and has a car park. Ideal for relaxing on the beach or enjoying surfing.
3. Camel trekking in Taghazout
At Taghazout beach you can hire camel rides that will take you along a long stretch of the coast. It’s a unique experience to get a taste of what it’s like to ride one of these impressive animals and enjoy the views. You can book the excursion at your accommodation or at tourist agencies in town.
4. Taghazout village
The village of Taghazout has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to stroll through the narrow streets with their whitewashed façades and the local markets where the locals sell fresh produce, spices, handicrafts and souvenirs. 1. The Valley of Paradise
A must-see in Taghazout is the Valley of Paradise, a natural site known for its large waterfalls and natural pools. It is located 45 minutes from Taghazout. If you don’t have a car, you can go by bus, and it costs about €15.
In the Paradise Valley you will find lagoons, palm trees, holm oaks and beautiful villages in the surrounding area. It is a perfect excursion to do with the family, and it is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. The excursion can be booked at your accommodation or at travel agencies.
2. Sahara Desert
If there’s one thing you can’t miss on your trip to Morocco, it’s the Sahara Desert. In Taghazout you can book different excursions that will take you to the desert from the city centre. For example, you can go surfing over the sandy mountains, ride a camel, quad bike or jeep. The price varies according to the activity, but to give you an idea, the jeep costs €36 per person and the quad costs €35 per vehicle.
3. Natural Park of Sus-Masa
A must-see near Taghazout is the Sus-Masa Natural Park, a natural passageway formed on the banks of the Oued Massa and Oued Sous rivers about an hour and a half from the city. Here you’ll find stunning landscapes covered in native vegetation and home to a wide variety of animals.
Access to the park is restricted to a time slot from 10am to 5pm. You can go on your own, but we recommend you book a guided tour to make the most of your stay. The tour costs around €80 per person and includes travel and dinner.

What to do in Taghazout in 1 day?
The city of Taghazout can be seen in a morning and, as we have seen before, it doesn’t have much to offer. However, along with Agadir, it’s a good place to stay and to organise excursions to nearby attractions such as the Paradise Valley, the Sus-Massa Natural Park, the Sahara and the nearby beaches.
Excursions can take all day, so to see everything in the area, we recommend spending at least four days. Many tourists choose to extend their trip to enjoy the beach and the good weather.
How to get to Taghazout, Morocco?
There are many ways to get to Taghazout, so we have prepared this section where we tell you how to get there from different parts of the country.
- From Marrakech: the bus journey takes about 4 hours and costs €16. Some companies charge an extra €0.5 for luggage.
- From Imsouane: the bus trip takes an hour and a half and costs €8.
- From Essaouira: for €12 you can get there by train in three hours. It is advisable to buy tickets online.
- From Agadir: this is the closest tourist town to Taghazout. It takes half an hour by bus and costs €10. You can also take a taxi for around €20 or public transport, which is the cheapest option. From Agadir to Taghazout you’ll need to take buses 32 and 33.
Where to eat in Taghazout Morocco?
The city offers a wide variety of local and international restaurants where you can eat at very affordable prices. Our recommendation is that you go into the city and enjoy the most typical dishes of the country such as couscous, tajine or fish prepared Moroccan style. You’ll also find street stalls where you can eat quickly and cheaply.

- Sunset Taghazout: The food is American and fast food, you can order à la carte or order from the menu, interestingly there are vegetarian and vegan options. It’s close to the beach and is one of the cheapest options. Price range: €3-€10.
- West Coast: They combine typical Moroccan food with fast food, you can have a sandwich, a pizza or a typical Moroccan dish. They have vegetarian and vegan options, located very close to the beach. Price range €2-€6.
- World of Waves: This beachfront restaurant serves Italian, French, Moroccan, and European food. The restaurant managers carry out all the covid measures, it is a quiet and clean restaurant. Price range €5 – €12.
- Dar Joséphine: This restaurant is typical for Moroccan food, although it has French and Mediterranean options, and is more inland. Price range €5-€9.
- L’Auberge Restaurant: Located on the beachfront of Taghazout, the cuisine is typical Moroccan, the menu options are very healthy and there are also options for coeliacs, the service is very good. Price range €6-€15.
- The Favela Restaurant: Located near the beach, but not on the waterfront, it’s famous for its seafood and Moroccan food. Enjoy this elegant restaurant serving lunch and dinner. Price range €20-50.

- The Surf Hostel: A great idea if you’re travelling alone or with friends, it’s on the beach in Taghazout, offers a sunbathing area and barbecue, it’s a hostel where you share a room with 6 people or so, but it has good facilities and organises surfing or yoga classes. - The Oceana Surf Camp: It is a resort that goes by flats, offers sports activities such as horse riding, golf, surfing, cycling routes, etc.. Tips for your trip to Taghazout Morocco
- The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan dirham (1 MAD = 0.096€)
- Bring your money beforehand and have cash on you, especially if you are going to buy something in a small local shop.
- The dirham is a restricted currency, so you should exchange it before leaving the country.
