1. Who offers better speed and data limit, Holafly or Truphone?
One of the biggest drawbacks of Truphone’s eSIM cards is that they don’t have plans with unlimited data like Holafly, but instead all of their plans have a data limit between 100MB and 50GB. This means that, if you haven’t calculated your connection needs properly during your trip, you will most likely run out of data and have to recharge your eSIM and pay again.
At Holafly, by contrast, its eSIM plans have no data limit, meaning you can travel without worrying about running out. At Passporter we consider this aspect to be a great advantage, which is why we always recommend getting a unlimited data eSIM card like the ones Holafly offers.
2. Which eSIM has better plan duration, Holafly or Truphone?
In this aspect Holafly cards are better suited to all types of travel as their data plans can be for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 30, 60 and 90 days, while Truphone’s are only for 1 and 30 days. If you’re a digital nomad or studying abroad, Holafly’s 90-day plans are perfect for you, so you won’t have to re-purchase the eSIM every month. With Holafly the contract duration is tailored to your trip, and you won’t be lacking or having too many days as in the case of Truphone.
3. Who has the better price, Holafly or Truphone?
If you compare the 30-day eSIM card from both brands, you’ll see that Holafly’s with unlimited data costs £69, and Truphone’s with 50GB, 20GB, 20GB and 10GB data limit can cost between £14 and £80.
Although at first glance Truphone may seem the less expensive option as it offers cheaper data plans than Holafly, we remind you that their plans have data limits and it is very likely that you will run out of gigabytes sooner than expected and you will have to sign up for more and pay again.
That’s why at Passporter we think it’s better to spend a little more for a unlimited data eSIM card like Holafly and not have to worry about paying again at any point in time.
4. Who offers better customer support, Holafly or Truphone?
Holafly’s technical support is one of the best in the industry as they respond in less than a minute at any time of the day and in several languages: Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, and Japanese. If you have any doubt or problem during the purchase and installation process, they will solve it quickly through their chat or Whatsapp.
Truphone’s customer service works through an email that you will be able to consult on the web or the app, and which claims to answer in less than 60 minutes, which is not really efficient since if we have any problem with internet abroad, we usually need an immediate solution.
5. Do Holafly and Truphone eSIMs allow data sharing?
Truphone allows data sharing in some cases, when the cell phone is compatible and the eSIM in the destination country allows it. You can check this information in the settings of your smartphone and on the Truphone website.
With Holafly on the other hand you can’t share data.
6. Which app is better, Holafly’s or Truphone’s?
Truphone has an App where you can buy your eSIM plan and install it directly on your mobile. It is a point in favor of the brand since it speeds up the purchase and installation process. In the App you can also check how many gigabytes you have left and top up your eSIM if it runs out of data.
Holafly also has an App where you can check how much contracted time you have left and see how to install the eSIM manually in case you make the purchase with your smartphone.
7. Who offers the best buying and installation process?
Although on the Truphone website you can check the data plans and all the details about their eSIMs, to buy the eSIM card you will need to download the mobile application, which will tell you instantly if your phone is compatible with their cards. Once downloaded, you will need to create an account. You will then be able to choose the country and data plan you need for your trip and pay securely. The eSIM installation is done directly from the App, no need to scan a QR code.
Holafly’s eSIMs are purchased through their website. Once the purchase is completed you will receive an email with instructions to install the eSIM and a QR code along with a numeric code to install it manually. In the case of Holafly, you can also consult this numerical code in their App to avoid depending on a computer when installing the eSIM.
8. Recharge the eSIM (if you run out of data)
It is possible to recharge Truphone eSIM cards via their App. Holafly does not offer this service because there is no need as with their unlimited data plans you will never run out of gigabytes.

Truphone and Holafly eSIM cards user reviews
One of the most reliable websites to consult opinions about a brand is Trustpilot, the best source of reviews to compare and read what thousands of users think about all kinds of brands such as Holafly and Truphone.
On the Trustpilot website they rate brands from 0 to 5, and Holafly has a score of 4.5, the best compared to all other eSIM providers, while Truphone has a score of 1.9, one of the worst, plus many negative reviews.
These are some reviews you’ll see on Trustpilot that we thought might help you make a decision.
1. Holafly Trustpilot reviews
Excellent service, very secure transaction and very very quick to help me with my questions. Highly recommended! Wayra was the one who assisted me and she is great, if you are assisted by her, consider yourselves lucky!
Jensie Bolaños, Trustpilot
I had some difficulties with the card because of a trip cancellation, and also because of my inexperience with technology. The folks at Holafly quickly resolved it with priority and excellence. I highly recommend this company.
E. Alonso, Trustpilot
Excellent service from Wayre!!! I had previously used HolaFly’s service and everything was perfect. Now with the change to eSim because of my mobile version I can’t use it but I have made the purchase for a family member who is leaving soon for the USA.
Jacinto, Trustpilot
The truth is that my experience was very good, at the beginning it was a little difficult to get connectivity but nothing that a Holafly WhatsApp operator could not solve…I would repeat without doubt…in my case I took the 10 day card for New York and it was perfect.

2. Truphone Trustpilot reviews
First of all, my bank could not process my monthly payment because Truphone does not use 3D Secure. So I terminated my plan and took out another plan and now I have no network connection. You can’t talk to anyone because their phone lines don’t work (oh, the irony) and they don’t respond to e-mails.
Zoe Smith, Trustpilot
Terrible customer service. I tried to subscribe to their service but could not sign up for an account. They wanted me to verify my email address by clicking on a link in an email. The link did not work and I reported it 10 days ago and have been doing so repeatedly since then. No response. I will spend my money elsewhere.
Leslie, Trustpilot
Very simple setup on iPad pro. I used truphone several times during the testing period and it worked fine. In the end, I used 3 as a service provider because the offer provided was better than truphone in terms of data and cost.
David Eves, Trustpilot
-I picked up an e-sim plan for an Apple Watch and the first three months it worked fine then it stopped working and they didn’t give me an answer that if every month they charge me for a service they are not giving me. You can only contact them by email and they say they are looking into it and never respond.

Which eSIM card is better Truphone or Holafly
On Trustpilot you will see that Truphone has a score of 1.9 while Holafly has a score of 4.5. This means that users are much happier with the experience with Holafly eSIMs than with Truphone eSIMs.
After testing both eSIM cards, we too have our favorite. In our travels we have found that one of the most important aspects about eSIMs are the data limit. When we travel with Truphone eSIM cards the data can run out if we use the internet more than planned. That’s why we prefer the cards with unlimited data from Holafly, to avoid worries during our trip.
On the other hand, Truphone’s eSIM cards offer very little flexibility in terms of contract length (1 or 30 days) and do not adjust to your trip. You’ll have to decide whether you’d rather have days left over or days with no internet. Holafly plans have very flexible durations of 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 30, 60 and 90 days, perfect for all types of travel.
As for the price, as you have seen, it is possible to buy a cheaper eSIM on Truphone. However, think that if you run out of data you will have to pay again and in the end what seemed cheap will turn out to be expensive. That’s why it’s preferable to pay a little more for an eSIM with unlimited data from Holafly and not worry about it.
The installation process for eSIM cards is always simple and quick, but in the case of these two brands, there are several differences. On Holafly the data plans are purchased on the web and on Truphone in the App. On the other hand, the installation in Holafly is done with a QR code or with a numerical code, and in Truphone it is done directly from the App.
Truphone, unlike Holafly, offers data plans for apple watch and ipad. They also make available a 500MB data plan with a free one-day duration for customers.
Finally, we would like to mention the great advantage that Holafly has 24/7 customer support in English and other languages and they take less than 1 minute to respond. Truphone also has 24/7 support service, but sometimes they take time to respond.
At Passporter we want to avoid all kinds of worries during our trips, that’s why we consider that Holafly cards with unlimited data are the best option to have internet quickly, easily and without complications.
