Luzzus boats in Marsaxlokk Malta

The Luzzus boats are undoubtedly the most symbolic sight to see in Marsaxlokk Malta. Scattered all throughout the port, it is their curious and striking colours that have made them so significant.

The stories told about these boats date back to Phoenician times, as the famous Eye of Horus is painted on the front of most of them. Legend has it that this symbol was used to protect fishermen out at sea. Saint Peter’s Pool is a stunning natural pool located just a short distance from Masaxlokk in Malta. It has long been considered a hidden gem, although unfortunately it has become quite popular over the years.

This beautiful area is the ideal place to visit during the summer season, as you will be able to enjoy its wonderful waters in a setting that will leave you speechless. You can get to the water via some of the slopes or stairs on the rocks and, if you are brave enough, by jumping from the small cliffs. You will be fascinated by the warm turquoise waters. Fort St. Lucian

Fort St. Lucian is an imposing building dating from the 17th century, located just 15 minutes’ walk from the town. It was originally built to protect the bay from Turkish attacks. It is now home to the Aquaculture Research Centre.

As well as being able to admire its majesty, small group tours are held on Saturday mornings, so if you’re interested in finding out more don’t hesitate to book a place. How to get to Marsaxlokk Malta?

Before you set off on your journey, the first thing to bear in mind is that Marsaxlokk is not very well connected to the rest of Malta. Here’s how to get to this little fishing village.

Firstly, you’ll need to make your way to Valletta, either by car or bus. Once there, you’ll need to take the 81, 85 or TD10 bus (although the latter only runs on Sundays and is more expensive). These buses will drop you off directly at Marsaxlokk – you’ve reached your destination!

Another option for getting to Marsaxlokk is to take a taxi, but be aware that prices can go up to €15 or €20, depending on the area of Malta you want to return to.

Is it dangerous to drive in Malta?

If you’re coming from Spain, driving in Malta may seem a little more complex and chaotic. However, it’s easy to get used to the driving habits of the locals, so you shouldn’t have any problems. Make sure you get good car insurance in case of an accident and don’t forget to take care on the road.
