1. Amman Beach

The beach in Amman, the capital of Jordan, is one of the favourite destinations among tourists who travel to the country for its fine sand and clear, calm waters. As well as being in a unique setting, the beach is characterised by its lively atmosphere.

Here, visitors can enjoy the supposed healing benefits of salt water, known for its beneficial properties for the body and skin. The high concentration of salt allows swimmers to float freely without worrying about sinking. It’s a fun experience.

2. South Beach

This beach is located in Aqaba, a beautiful coastal city popular with tourists travelling to Jordan for its rich history and famous Archaeological Museum. The city is built in a unique setting surrounded by majestic mountains and extensive beaches of soft, multi-coloured sand. And underwater, the landscape of coral reefs makes the beach a popular spot for snorkelling.

From Aqaba, it’s a 30-minute drive to the beach and today, it’s an easily accessible spot that’s very tourist-friendly.

3. Berenice Beach, Jordan’s most touristy beach

Berenice Beach is perfect for a luxury sun and beach holiday. This area has numerous stunning resorts with swimming pools, spas and all the amenities, and the beaches are perfectly equipped for holidaymakers. The resorts themselves have very frequent bus routes that take you to and from the beach.

There you can practice water sports such as jet skiing and scuba diving, among others. Bear in mind that this is a very touristy area designed for beach tourism. So don’t expect to find cosy little coves with no people, but rather the opposite.

4. Coral Beach

If you’re looking for a quieter beach, Coral Beach is not to be missed. It’s located near Aqaba, and although it’s also part of a resort, it’s a fairly quiet spot with incredible views. This shallow, crystal-clear beach is the perfect habitat for hundreds of tropical fish that live among the coral reefs. As such, it is a popular spot for diving and snorkelling. It is a highly recommended beach to go with children as the waters are calm and they can snorkel safely.

5. Wadi Mujib, the beach of the most beautiful river in Jordan

Wadi Mujib is a river that flows into the Dead Sea forming an incredible canyon that runs from the mountains to the sea. As it approaches the Dead Sea, the river widens and small beaches begin to appear where tourists can take a dip in the crystal-clear waters. They’re not considered official beaches and have nothing to do with the rest of Jordan’s extensive tourist beaches, but they’re worth a visit to the canyon and a chance to cool off.

Visiting the canyon is a real adventure, and we’re sure the scenery will leave you speechless. You can go by car or hire a tour at your hotel or in the main towns.

6. Al-Ghandour

Al-Ghandour is another lesser-known beach in Aqaba. It is smaller than the rest of the city’s beaches, but it is also very well-equipped and only takes 10 minutes to reach from the city. Entry is free and there are plenty of restaurants nearby from which to admire the views.

Jordan Diving

Jordan is a popular destination for divers because of the beauty and biodiversity of the Red Sea reefs. The city of Aqaba is the main dive centre in the country, where you can arrange tours, information and equipment, but there are also other dive sites such as the Wadi Rum Nature Reserve and the Farasan Islands.

The water of the Red Sea is characterised by being warm and very clear; it offers visibility that can exceed 30 metres, which is perfect for spotting marine animals in the distance.

Diving highlights in Jordan include the reefs of Coral Garden, Japanese Gardens and Power Station. These sites feature coral walls, underwater gardens, caves and wrecks, creating a unique environment for unforgettable experiences.

1. The wreck of the Cedar Pride

In the underwater depths of Aqaba you can see dive to the wreck of the Cedar Pride, the country’s most famous shipwreck. This ship sank in 1982 after a fire, and today it’s an incredible site visited by experienced divers from all over the world.

2. Japanese Garden

The Japanese Coral Garden is one of the highlights of diving in Aqaba. The name ‘Japanese Garden’ is due to the beauty of its underwater scenery and the meticulous arrangement of coral, which resembles traditional Japanese gardens.

This underwater garden is characterised by its impressive coral reef and abundant marine life. Living in its crystal clear waters you will see a wide variety of tropical fish, colourful corals and other fascinating marine creatures.

What should I consider before travelling to the beaches of Jordan

• If you’re travelling to Jordan for more than 3 days, it’s worth getting the Jordan Pass, a pass that includes entry to the main sights. The price is 1 day: 70 JOD / 2 days: 75 JOD / 3 days: 80 JOD.
• The official currency of Jordan is the Jordanian dinar.
• Arabic is spoken in Jordan, but you’ll be able to make yourself understood in English at tourist sites.
• The water in Jordan is safe to drink, but we recommend buying bottled water to avoid problems.
• In Jordan the common voltage is 230 V, the frequency is 50 Hz. and the plugs and sockets are of type C / D / F / F / G / J.
• The best time to travel to Jordan is from May to April and September to October.
• Always bring sunscreen, water and comfortable shoes.
• Be covered for possible medical emergencies: travel insured.
