We should tell you that Holafly is characterized by its eSIM with unlimited data, its wide offer in terms of contract duration and its 24/7 quality support in English and other languages. Ubigi, however, is characterized by its App where you can install the eSIM and because it offers data plans for cars with internet.

Holafly and Ubigi eSIM card brand comparison

1. Who offers better speed and data limit, Holafly or Ubigi?

One of the biggest drawbacks of Ubigi’s eSIM cards is that they don’t have unlimited data plans like Holafly, but instead all of their plans have a data limit between 500MB and 200GB. This means that, if you haven’t calculated your connection needs properly during your trip, you’ll most likely run out of data and have to recharge your eSIM and pay again. However, on their website you will find a wide offer to choose the data limit you prefer.

At Holafly, on the other hand, their eSIM plans have no data limit, meaning you can travel without worrying about running out. At Passporter we consider this aspect to be a great advantage, which is why we always recommend getting an unlimited data eSIM card like the ones Holafly offers.

2. Which eSIM has better plan duration, Holafly or Ubigi?

In this regard Holafly cards are better suited for all types of travel as their data plans can be for 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 30, 60 and 90 days. That’s why Holafly’s eSIMs are perfect for both short trips, digital nomads or students abroad.

The duration of Ubigi eSIM cards can be 1 day or 30 days, which doesn’t make them very flexible. However, they are also a good option for long trips as they offer unlimited duration plans that are paid for monthly without the need to install a new eSIM.

3. Who has a better price, Holafly or Ubigi?

Ubigi is more expensive than Holafly and does not offer unlimited data. Still, on their website you can find plans for eSIM cheaper than Holafly, but with data limited to 1GB or 3GB. For example, in the U.S. a 30-day unlimited data plan from Holafly costs $69 and Ubigi offers the same plan with a 200GB limit for $200.

While with Holafly the price varies according to the length of the contract, with Ubigi it varies according to the gigabyte limit. In this respect we have no doubt that the Holafly unlimited data eSIM cards are much better in terms of the GBs-price ratio.

4. Who offers better customer support, Holafly or Ubigi?

Holafly’s technical support is one of the best in the industry as they respond in less than a minute at any time of the day and in several languages: Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Japanese. If you have any doubt or problem during the purchase and installation process, they will solve it quickly through their chat or Whatsapp.

If you have any problems with Ubigi you will have to send an email through a form on their website and wait for them to reply. On the web page you can also consult their video tutorials to solve your doubts. Support is in English only, and the website is available only in English and French.

5. Do Holafly and Ubigi eSIMs allow data sharing?

One of the advantages of Ubigi eSIM cards over Holafly eSIM cards is that they allow data sharing with other devices. In your phone’s settings you can configure your data plan to allow this option. Keep in mind that if several devices use the eSIM at the same time you will run out of data sooner. Holafly cards do not offer this service.

6. Which app is better, Ubigi’s or Holafly’s?

Ubigi has an App where you can buy your eSIM plan and install it directly on your mobile. It is a point in favor of the brand since it speeds up the purchase and installation process. In addition, the App itself will tell you if your mobile is compatible with their eSIM cards when you download it.

Holafly also has an App where you can check how much contracted time you have left and where you can check how to install the eSIM manually in case you make the purchase with your smartphone.

7. Who offers the best purchase and installation process?

The installation of Ubigi eSIM cards is a little different from other brands. The installation of the eSIM is free and is done through the App, which after registering will guide you through the installation process in the settings of your mobile. Once you have the card installed you will be able to make the purchase both on the App and on the web of the destination and plan you choose.

Holafly eSIM cards are purchased directly from their website, which is really intuitive and easy to use. In the destinations tab choose the country or continent where you will need internet, and after choosing the duration of your data plan you can proceed to pay securely with debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Paypal. Immediately afterwards you will receive an email with all the necessary information to perform the installation, which can be done through a QR code or by typing a numerical code.

8. Recharge the eSIM (if you run out of data)

It is possible to recharge Ubigi cards once installed. This service is useful when you run out of data in the middle of your trip as there is no need to re-install. Simply go to the Top-Up section of the App and purchase another plan for your eSIM.

Holafly doesn’t offer this service because it doesn’t need to as with its unlimited data plans you’ll never run out of gigabytes.

1. Holafly Trustpilot reviews

Excellent service, very secure transaction and very very quick to help me with my questions. Highly recommended! Wayra was the one who assisted me and she is great, if you are assisted by her, consider yourselves lucky!

Jensie Bolaños, Trustpilot

I had some difficulties with the card because of a trip cancellation, and also because of my inexperience with technology. The folks at Holafly quickly resolved it with priority and excellence. I highly recommend this company.

E. Alonso, Trustpilot

Excellent service from Wayre!!! I had previously used HolaFly’s service and everything was perfect. Now with the change to eSim because of my mobile version I can’t use it but I have made the purchase for a family member who is leaving soon for the USA.

Jacinto, Trustpilot

The truth is that my experience was very good, at the beginning it was a little difficult to get connectivity but nothing that a Holafly WhatsApp operator could not solve…I would repeat without doubt…in my case I took the 10 day card for New York and it was perfect.

Sandra Mata DE LA Concepcion, Trustpilot

2. Trustpilot reviews of Ubigi

I couldn’t use my cell phone and still can’t. I have 2 lines paid for and can’t use any.

Rómulo mejia duran, Trustpilot

Assuming the prices are more expensive than local operators, just for the time savings of going to find a phone store when you arrive, it’s worth it. It is super simple, and works well. I got an esim 6h before going to Andorra, and was very happy. And yes, the esim only provides data, no calls, so to talk you have to use whatsapp, Skype, etc…

Superefren, Trustpilot

Everything very simple. You install the app. You select the package and pay. And it automatically installs the esim. It works perfectly.

Trustpilot customer

I was just one day in Spain and decided to use the service, really excellent, easy, practical and efficient.

Which eSIM card is better, Holafly or Ubigi

Ubigi and Holafly are two of the best current eSIM brands as reflected by their ratings on Trustpilot: 4.5 Holafly and 4.2 Ubigi. Both brands are characterized by the quality and simplicity of their services, however, both have certain characteristics that will make the difference when it comes to deciding which option to choose.

In addition, the vast majority of Holafly eSIM cards have unlimited data, while Ubigi’s are limited to 200GB or less, which is a major drawback as we may run out of internet in the middle of our trip.

Both brands are a good option for long trips as Holafly has plans for up to 90 days and Ubigi has unlimited duration plans. With the Ubigi App you can also recharge your eSIM when you run out of data.

The purchase and installation process also differs a bit. With Ubigi you will be able to make the purchase and installation through the App while with Holafly it is done through the web. Remember that Ubigi eSIM cards are installed for free, and once it’s installed, you purchase the data plan for your destination. One drawback to the Ubigi process is that all the information is only in English, same as the customer service. At Holafly all the information and support can be found in several languages.

Ubigi is the only brand to offer eSIM card plans for smart cars such as Jaguar, Fiat, Land Rover, Alfa Romeo or Jeep. This option is quite interesting when we are going to need internet in our car.

For us it is important to be able to travel calm and carefree, so we consider that Holafly cards with unlimited data are the best alternative.
