Mario Cañas Ruiz Park

Mario Cañas Ruiz Park is one of the most iconic places to see in Liberia Costa Rica. Characterised by the typical colonial style of Costa Rican parks, here you can enjoy a pleasant stroll through its large green areas.

At the centre of the park you will find its famous quisco, which connects different areas of the park. You will be enchanted by the abundant vegetation that lives the park. Once you have finished your walk, sit on one of the benches to rest and simply enjoy the scenery. Throughout the year, various social and cultural events are held in the park, making it a popular meeting point. Don’t miss it!

Guanacaste Museum

The Museum of Guanacaste is one of the most important cultural spots not only in Liberia but in the whole province. Located a short distance from the main square, this building was formerly the city’s military barracks.

It was later remodelled and transformed into the beautiful museum it is today. During your visit, you can enjoy many works by local and national artists. These exhibitions are mainly based on pieces that have been carved from fish bones. In addition to having a very important cultural value for the city, it is now part of the Historical Architectural Heritage of Costa Rica. And, as if that were not enough, admission is free.

Africa Safari Adventure Park

If you’re travelling to Liberia with children, a visit to the Africa Safari Adventure Park is the perfect way to enjoy a fun family day out. This park offers an impressive biodiversity where you can meet some of the most beautiful animals in the world.

You will be able to see species such as giraffes and zebras, in a jungle environment adapted to the needs of these animals. Take the opportunity to interact with them, and even feed them! In addition, along the route you will find a beautiful waterfall that flows into the El Salto River, which crosses the entire park. Both children and adults will enjoy this park, so don’t forget to bring your camera!

Ermita de La Agonía

The Ermita de La Agonía is a beautiful church with a mix of Greek and Gothic architectural styles, resulting in a beautiful temple that nowadays is one of the most attractive places to see in Liberia Costa Rica.

This Catholic church has important historical value, as it was one of the first to ring the bells when the process of independence ended in Costa Rica. Thanks to its numerous restorations, today it has a beautiful facade. Even so, the most interesting part of this place is inside, where you can admire various paintings of Spanish origin, as well as some very interesting decoration.

Hidden Garden Art Gallery

The Hidden Garden Art Gallery is the largest and most important gallery in the province of Guanacaste. Located just a 20 minute drive from Liberia Costa Rica, you can’t miss a visit to this impressive art gallery.

During your tour of this museum, you will be able to admire some of the most beautiful works of art in the country, which also perfectly represent the artistic branch of Costa Rica. Playas del Coco

Playas de Coco is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches to visit in Liberia, located just 35 kilometres from the city. This beach has distinctive, striking brown sand, stunning turquoise waters and idyllic tranquillity.

You can spend the morning or afternoon in a haven of peace, surrounded by an unmatched natural environment. As it is small in size, it has not been exploited much by hotels and therefore, it is not very crowded. Once there, you can also visit other beaches located on nearby islands, such as the Bat Islands, the Pelonas Islands or the Catalina Islands. In addition, these waters are the ideal place to snorkel and see a great variety of marine species such as sharks, octopuses and giant turtles. Make sure not to miss it!

Llano Cortés Waterfalls

The Llano Cortes are impressive waterfalls that flow into a beautiful natural pool of warm water. Located less than 30 minutes drive from Liberia Costa Rica, these waterfalls are one of the most impressive natural sights to see outside of the city.

You will be able to enjoy a warm and relaxing day in front of the waterfall, admiring the landscape and even enjoying a nice swim in the natural pool. You will have to walk along a short path until you reach the waterfall, and once you get there it will feel completely worth it.
